Returning from an extensive period of study in Switzerland, Melbourne pianist Max Teakle sets up behind the keys for a showcase of original works and grooves in the jazz tradition, aided and abetted by long standing rhythm section co-conspirators Fred Booker Malcolm and Quinn Knight, with melody master Dean Kalaitzidis on saxophones and Kahan Harper on percussion. Herrgöttli is a novel amalgam of musicians. Together they present a sound rooted in the lucidity of rhythm, attended by improvisational unfoldment and a love for listening.
