About the event
TONIGHT FROM 8PM OSCAR LADELL @ BAR OUSSOU!
Singer-songwriter Oscar LaDell brings incisive lyricism and a breathtaking voice to his unique brand of Indie-Soul. Based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia, Oscar blends the influences of Blues and Soul music with an eclectic ear for sonic texture and melody to tell deeply moving stories that range from the political to the personal. 🎶🔥
Oscar was born in Denver, Colorado before moving across the world with his family to Ōtepoti/Dunedin in the deep South of Aotearoa/New Zealand at age 5. Oscar’s musical journey began in his early teens when he took up the harmonica after developing a deep obsession with blues and soul music. From there, he honed his craft performing in bars with his father Leo, an accomplished Blues singer and multi-instrumentalist, and later with his Aotearoa-based band Hoot. ❤️
In 2021, Oscar embarked upon a successful collaboration with Aotearoa-based producer Chris Armour, which yielded an album and the singles ‘Slow Burning Love’ and ‘Alcohol.’ In recent years, Oscar has developed a distinctive, cinematic sound, crafting songs that are at once sparse and rich. Oscar’s Indie-Soul sound draws on his roots in Blues and Soul music and from his unique, incisive talent as a storyteller. With a versatile, powerful voice that hums with emotion, Oscar gives every listener the impression he is singing directly to them.😎🤩
